It’s wine time in Stellies

ImageImageImageHello lovely people. Apologies for neglecting you and the blog. Life has been amazingly busy. Can’t wait to share the juicy bits!

One of my decisions for 2013 was not to play into the hands of awful PR junkies until I saw this little treat in my inbox for the Stellenbosch Wine Festival, which I can’t attend. *raises fist to the skies*

The event that I have two VIP tickets for is the launch event for the Wine Fest. Ken Forrester, the big daddy of the wine routes, is hosting a cocktail evening and someone as to go in my place.  It’s on Wednesday the 30th of Jan at 15:30 in Stellies, so be sure your boss can be woo’d by your pearl whites.

Let’s make this easy, all you have to do to win this experience is tell me what wine best describes you and why in 140 characters. I’ll decide on the winner on Friday, 25 Jan.

Robertson Winery Introduces Sparkling Wine

There are few things that complete a day or night quite like a long-stemmed glass of bubbles. Yes, I am rather taken by the glassware but it’s also the look and taste of this effervescent friend that have me ordering it by the bottle at almost every venue I go to.

Robertson Winery has recently launched a new range of sparkling wine just in time for summer. At a mere R50 a bottle, they definitely win on price. The range includes a sweet white with flavours of yellow apples and melon, a sweet Rose’ imparting a ripe strawberry note and a Brut (my favourite) that offers a crisp Granny Smith and pear aroma that is accessibly dry.

To win a case of this sparking wine tweet me a sparkling wine-inspired rhyme (see what I did there). Be sure to include my twitter nick, @KaminiPather, as well as @RobertsonWinery. The winner will be announced on the 5th of October when Robertson’s will be in studio to do a tasting on #2girls1mic, so tune in 2ov.fm.

“Spotlight”

Chukkachurri is one of my favourite venues in the Mother City. They’re showcasing more house beats with a new party called Spotlight. The idea is  that DJ’s from around the country get a 5 hour set to take people on a musical journey.

The party kicks off this weekend, Saturday 4th August, with DJ Phat Jack. Jack has been in the industry since the 90’s and is a household (see what i did there) name. He is part of the Red Bull CT Studio and has played at pretty much every house-obsessed club in SA: JO’BURG: at Sublime, Monsoon Lagoon, Al Dente, Truth, Café Vogue, Foundation and Theatre On The Track and Lilo events; DURBAN at the legendary Tilt and Crash, in GRAHAMSTOWN at the Pop Art Café and Laugh It Off Productions; PE (On The Harbor) and the Essential Mix Grahmstown. He has also played over the sea.

Jack has chosen CT-based Cassiem Latief to start the night off at 9 before he takes the decks and keeps the floor going into the Sunday morning.

R50 gets you in OR tune in on Friday  to win tickets.

Tell me, @KaminiPather, what your favourite house track is and listen to #2girls1mic on @2oceansviberadio this Friday between 1&3pm.

After Eden Winner

Last friday’s #2girls1mic show caused me mild amounts of sheer panic because Angel was off in Jozi. With all the guests (@FrankieFenner, @_mamere, @AuriolHays, @FineBrandy_SA) I forgot to announce the winner of that R1 400 @AfterEdenSA voucher.

Congrats to @MegPascoe. Sexy spanks, sexy drink and damn sexy food. Nice one, chica.

Good Food And Wine Show 2012

Unless you’ve been living under a rock where the only form of sustenance are the little pills you take to ward off the scurvy, then you must know that the Good Food and Wine Show is happening in Cape Town this weekend (24-27 May).

It’s the largest food show in country that is always teaming with BBC Lifestyle chefs and generally hungry folks. This year, look out for The Cake Boss himself, Buddy Valastro, Reza Mahammed, Whitney Miller (Master USA winner) and Giorgio Locatelli – our International food heroes. Each of them will be found at the Chefs In Action Theatre where they will be demonstrating various techniques and generes of food. Seats are limited for these demo’s, so be sure to book early.

Also keep an eye out for some of our SA chefs who will be making waves this year. Jenny Morris, Craig Cormack (Sofia’s at morgenster), Harpreet Longani (Bombay Brasserie), Bertus Basson (Overture) are just some of the names to look out for.

Purchase your tickets online at Computicket or at the door for R95.

PS: I have two sets of double tickets to give away.

Q: Name the Kfm radio host that Jenny Morris will be cooking with on Friday, 25 May.

Hint: www.goodfoodandwineshow.co.za

Tweet your answer to me, @JustCallMe_k, include the name of the radio host and the hasgtag #GoodFoodCT before 3pm on Friday.

Winners to be announced on Friday (25 May) on my show, #2girls1mic, between 1&3pm on 2OceansVibeRadio.com, so be sure to tune.
